The Furphy Anthology 2026 marks the seventh edition of Australia's most anticipated short story collection, showcasing the finest stories selected by a highly credentialed panel of judges.
Selected from over 880 entries to the Furphy Literary Award 2026, this anthology brings together some of Australia's most accomplished and exciting emerging writers. Spanning themes of community, memory, love and loss, childhood, ageing, relationships, cultural identity and the digital world, these short stories capture the full breadth of contemporary life.
From shopping centres and creek beds to farms, suburban streets, country towns, parks and hospital wards, each story is grounded in the everyday places where Australian life unfolds. Together they explore what shapes us, what we hold onto and who we are becoming.
Funny, moving and unflinchingly honest, this is a collection of stories you’ll want to return to again and again.
