Blak Douglas

Born Adam Douglas Hill to an Aboriginal father of the Dhungatti People and an Irish-Australian mother, Blak Douglas is trained in illustration and photography, and became a self–taught painter. His graphic art style is a commentary of politics and social justice. He is the winner of the 2022 Archibald Prize, the 2020 STILL: National Still Life Award, the 2019 Kilgour Prize and the 2003 Mil-Pra Award. Douglas is also a classically trained didgeridoo player, and has performed nationally and internationally, including at the Deadly Awards, the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony, Yabun Festival and the Welcome for Nelson Mandela
