Lisa Smiler

Lisa Smiler is a Gurindji woman, assistant teacher at Kalkaringi School and a Co-Director of Karungkarni Art. Lisa has worked on many Gurindji and Gurindji Kriol language projects, including the Kunpulu (Sawfish) project with the Murnkurrumurnkurru rangers and the Karu Kamparnup (Treating Babies with Termite Mound) dot-motion animation project, which was inspired by Tamarra: A Story of Termites on Gurindji Country. Lisa also worked with Felicity Meakins on the Aboriginal Child Language project, which recorded her children and other Gurindji children across many years as they learnt to speak.
