Dr Bushra Othman is a Palestinian Australian General Surgeon from Naarm/Melbourne. She has been honoured to complete three medical missions to Gaza and was the first Australian Palestinian woman – and Muslim woman – to volunteer as a doctor in Gaza.
She is a medical mission coordinator with the Palestinian Australian and New Zealand Medical Association (PANZMA); serves as the Victorian Membership Engagement and Events Lead for the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA); and is a faculty instructor for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and regularly teaches surgical trainees and medical students.
In 2025 she was recognised by Flinders University with a Distinguished Alumni Award for her humanitarian work in Gaza, and was the recipient of the 2025 Woman of the Year from the Australian Muslim Achievement Awards.
