Briony Barr is a non-Indigenous visual artist whose work explores process-based drawing, systems-thinking and generative parameters. Interdisciplinary research and collaboration are fundamental to her practice, and she regularly works with fellow artists, scientists, musicians, writers, dancers, mathematicians, linguists, community groups and the public on diverse projects ranging from large-scale, participatory drawings to live-art performances, educational workshops, storybooks and graphic novels. Briony’s work has been presented around Australia, in Mexico, America and South Korea. She is co-creator of eight art-science books for children and young adults. These include graphic novels The Invisible War and Follow Your Gut, which won the Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing: Most Outstanding Resource in 2017 and a Bronze Medal at the Comic Arts Awards of Australia in 2026, respectively. Both were listed by the Children's Book Council of Australia as a Notable Book. In 2024, she shared the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Children's Literature for Tamarra: A Story of Termites on Gurindji Country.
